Opposite Tree-Tree Interactions Jointly Drive the Natural Fir Treeline Population on the Southeastern Tibetan Plateau

چکیده
The long-term stability of alpine treeline positions and increased stem density are frequently reported by recent studies; however, whether a denser forest is relevant to competitive tree–tree interactions remain unclear. Herein, we mapped surveyed individual trees in two undisturbed Smith fir (Abies georgei var. smithii) plots (with size: 30 m × 200 m; plot NE1: 4477 m, NE2: 4451 m) near Ranwu Lake (RW) on the southeastern Tibetan Plateau. surface pattern method spatial point analysis were used detect distribution patterns three size classes (seedlings, juveniles, adults) associations between pairwise classes. We also compared our results five other forests (Deqin, Linzhi, Changdu, Yushu, Aba) from Young dominated plots. Both positive negative autocorrelations for all detected study Intraspecific facilitation competition coexisted at treelines regions (RW, characterized mild moist climate, whereas intraspecific (Changdu, Deqin, Yushu), which featured seasonal climatic stress or high disturbance pressure. Thus, can be linked relatively favorable environmental conditions. Overall, population mainly shaped combination thermal moisture conditions modulated non-climatic variables (e.g., history microtopography).

متن کاملElevation Pattern in Growth Coherency on the Southeastern Tibetan Plateau
It is generally expected that inter-annual changes in radial growth among trees would be similar to the increase in altitude due to the limitation of increasingly harsher climatic factors. Here, we examine whether this pattern exists in alpine forests on the southeastern Tibetan Plateau. Increment cores were collected from mature trees at the lower, middle and upper limits of balfour spruce (Pi...
متن کاملVariation of Maximum Tree Height and Annual Shoot Growth of Smith Fir at Various Elevations in the Sygera Mountains, Southeastern Tibetan Plateau
Little is known about tree height and height growth (as annual shoot elongation of the apical part of vertical stems) of coniferous trees growing at various altitudes on the Tibetan Plateau, which provides a high-elevation natural platform for assessing tree growth performance in relation to future climate change. We here investigated the variation of maximum tree height and annual height incre...
متن کاملPaleoglaciation of Shaluli Shan, southeastern Tibetan Plateau
Reconstructing the paleoglaciation of the Tibetan Plateau is critical to understanding linkages between regional climate changes and global climate changes, and herewe focus on the glacial history of the Shaluli Shan, an area of the southeastern Tibetan Plateau that receives much of its precipitation from monsoon flow. Based on field investigation, geomorphological mapping, and 10Be exposure da...
متن کاملModeling human population patterns on tree density
In order to evaluate the possible correlation between the tree density and the human population density, the forested area in Nav Asalem district located in Guilan Province was selected. The descriptors of tree number and basal area per hectare as well as the stand density index were used to determine the tree density, which was conducted from a 2014 forest inventory including 62 cluster (558 p...
